If you’re looking to indulge in some of the best quality sparkling wines this holiday, look past the price tag. Both the sound of the bubbles and the size of them may shed light on the quality of the wine, according to scientists at the Applied Research Laboratories at the University of Texas in Austin. “There is a well-known notion that the quality of a sparkling wine is correlated to the size of its bubbles, and we are investigating whether the bubble size distribution of a sparkling wine can be obtained from simple acoustical measures,” Kyle Spratt, who led the research at UT, said in a statement. read more
